Simple example: I want to have a hot fudge sundae. I feel like I deserve it, I feel like I WANT it, I am frustrated with X and this will make me feel better. Now LOGICALLY, we know that the ice cream may give us a temporary high, but it is NOT good for us in the long run, and we will suffer for it later. The sugar let-down, the extra pounds, the clogged arteries and so on. Emotionally, from a feeling standpoint, we WANT it! From a logical view, it is NOT a good choice.

As I said, feelings and emotions generally have more power over us than logic. So, are we stuck with that? NO! We can do two things.

1. Change the way we ACT upon those emotions. This is good, we DO have a choice on how we choose to act. Self-discipline is a big part of that. We can spend some time and energy working on self-discipline and CHOOSING how we will act.

2. We can change our emotions. Impossible, you say? No, not at all. Thoughts lead to feelings. We CAN change our thoughts. At least some of them. You can call it self-programming. You can call it brainwashing (but intentional, voluntary brainwashing). An example of this might be reading and repeating out loud affirmations each morning, such as: I feel energetic today, Today is going to be a wonderful day, Eating healthy food makes me better.

Millionaires have the same emotions as everyone else. But they also learn how to have MORE of the emotions they want, that they like, more positive emotions. This is really easier than it may seem. And, in my opinion, it is certainly easier than having to practice self-discipline and Act in ways that are hard for us, such as turning down the hot fudge sundae.

Here are some techniques:

• Post and read daily positive affirmations- you can find them lots of places- I have a set I use.

• A super easy but very effective was is to listen to a CD or tape at night as you go to sleep that has a recording of positive affirmations. You can buy hypnotic ones or even make your own customized set.

• Surround yourself with positive people who will encourage positive thinking and emotions. TRULY, the attitude of the people around you WILL make a difference in your thinking and emotions. Imagine yourself at a restaurant buffet: If someone says to you, wow, you made really healthy choices- I admire you; you are more likely to CONTINUE to make healthy choices. Compared to the person who says, yeah- we are eating out today- we do not have to stick to any diet!

When you ARE experiencing a negative or unpleasant or unhelpful emotion, allow yourself to feel it, experience it, then banish it. Think of it this way: is this emotion doing me or anyone any good? Do I WANT to have this emotion? CAN I let it go? WILL I let it go? And if you want, then let it go. And it CAN be gone, just like that. Best to replace with some positive emotion in its place.

Here is an example: I am REALLY mad and frustrated with my friend because he said he would X and he did not! He let me down! I am SO angry. Okay, now decide if your anger is serving any purpose? Will it help him change (maybe yes, maybe no, probably not)? Will it help you? (Possibly to see more clearly that this friend is not completely trustworthy.) So get what you can or need from the emotion, then say to yourself: okay, that is done. It is over with, I am letting it go. Now I am going to focus on my OTHER friend, and how wonderful he is and how trustworthy he is. I am lucky to have good friends!

You are not denying the negative experience or emotion, just not going to let it rule you, or remain stuck in your mind. Having it stuck there takes up your energy, which is much better used in other more productive ways.

We all know that the millionaire and the poor man’s outlook on life are worlds apart. We all know the story once told that if all the money in the world would be divided equally between all the people in the world so that everyone would have the same amount of money and that after one year the previously rich people would be rich again and the poor will be poor again. What do you think? Can this be true? It is!

Why? Because the poor man just don’t see money in the same light as the rich guy. If the poor man changes his outlook on life and money, would he also become rich?

How to Get Into The Millionaire’s Mindset

I could go into the how the rich think but that is a subject for another time.

So, let us go on changing our own ideas about money. This may actually be easier than you think. Do you think that you would look at .00 differently that the way you would look at 000 000.00. Off cause yes!

OK, here is what I did to change my outlook on money. I start to save 0.00 each and every month. Easy! You could start with .00. It depends on the amount you’ve got available. The first 0.00 was a huge accomplishment – I opened a separate bank account and deposited my 0.00 into that account. This was my start. I’ve got 0.00!! WOW

Each month thereafter I deposited 0.00 into my wealth creating account. How do you think that I felt when I reached 00.00? Definitely not the same as when I only had 0.00. Another accomplishment, another goal. How do you think I felt when I reached 000.00 or even 0 000.00? The same as when I had the 0.00? No!! By depositing any loose change or some extra money (from maybe some sideline job you did) you will see your money grow even faster. Even faster if you get compound interest on your money.

Your outlook on life and money will change as if by itself. You won’t even notice the change. Other people probably would. Some experts would tell you to first pay off all your debts. I don’t agree because you will never reach the stage where you would start to think like a millionaire by having no debt.

If you have, say, 0 000.00 safe in your banking account you would already feel like a millionaire but not if you pay that money on your bond, even if you pay it in full. We just don’t feel rich even if we don’t have any debts and no money in the bank. You would feel rich with lots of money in the bank and a lot of debts. And it is this feeling that we are after. Feeling rich! Once you are a millionaire you can decide to pay off all your debts and have lots of money left in the bank. The goal here is to get into the millionaires mindset. This is the only way you can start slowly but surely to change your outlook on money and life in general. Well, you could win the lottery! But would it surprise you if you are bankrupt after only one year? No, because you didn’t learn to think like a millionaire.

Have you ever come up with what you believed to be a great idea? Have you researched that idea and realised that there is actually a hole in the market that doesn’t cover your idea? One day, you are going to put that idea into practice properly and become a millionaire from it – just as soon as you get time.

Intellectual property rights are a legally binding way of protecting your idea that would prevent other people from using it. They may think their idea is original as nothing else like it is available on the open market and you may not have got round to actually producing the product but you would be protected and they would not be able to make their millions with it.

So, someone else could come along with an entirely different looking product that works in exactly the same way and if you only have design registration and not patent, then you cannot prevent them from making it.

Once your idea is underway, you will more than likely come up with a catchy signature phrase or recognisable logo that makes your individual product immediately recognisable. This will need to be covered by a trademark to stop other inventors using the same symbol or phrase.

Copyright is slightly different in that it applies to the more artistic market. Literature and music are the most commonly known works that are covered by a trademark. Also under the protection of this particular umbrella comes art, drama, layout, broadcasts and recordings. A copyright is an automatic right and does not need to be applied for. It will last for the author’s lifetime plus seventy years. However, you cannot copyright an idea so when it comes to intellectual property, it needs to be written, you cannot say “I was going to write a book about that” and claim it as your own.

The thing to remember is that, if you have that idea and don’t have the time, it takes a limited amount of time to get intellectual property rights to it. That way, you can sit it on the back burner until you do have the time.
